The Seed: God's Word


Cleansing Rain: A Reflection on God's Word


Paul prays a powerful word over believers in these verses. He asks that God would strengthen them in their inner beings. And since God is omnipotent, as Christians, we can draw on this limitless power to strengthen us spiritually. God, with all that power, dwells within us. Thus, we can live boldly and confidently as believers.


Verse 18 goes on to say, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”


We can’t begin to know the infiniteness of God’s love, but we can know more of it, and the more we know of God’s love, the more we are filled. We fill our hearts with His love via the power of the Holy Spirit working in us through prayer, His Word, communion, and baptism. And as we begin to take a tiny grasp of this infinite love, our faith grows.
